Overview - Project RoomBoi Page / Turtlebot
This is a robot with 2 motorized wheels and a round, flat platform. We hope to program the robot to have the ability to follow lines and deliver objects at certain destinations by placing QR codes at the end of a destination and having the RoomBoi scan it. Doing this will allow us to deliver items to other students in the class.Current Project Status:
2/13/2018 - Created a YouTube account and a GitHub for Project: RoomBoi
2/12/2018 - 3D printed a better but temporary back wheel
1/23/2018 - Continuing on building the turtle bot slowly.
1/22/2018 - Robot designing, maintenance check on mechanical parts.
1/19/2018 - Kicked off this project. Initial platform was from a Turtle bot platform with neato motors and wheels and controlled by an Arduino
What Steps Did We Solve:
- Done - Test Wheel - The motors we are using are DC motors. The test involved seeing if the wheels worked, and if the wheels can go backwards and forwards
- Done - Wheel Holder - In the end we decided to zip tie the wheels to plastic to which we drilled holes so that we can either zip tie or screw the wheel holders to the platform
- Done - Make a GitHub site - Link of the site is down below
- Done - Robotic presentation
Next Steps:
- In Progress - Robot Design - What is our robot going to look like? What will the coding look like? What sensors are we going to use?
- Pending - Charge Battery - We are having trouble finding sites that tell us if the battery can be charged, and if there is an actual charger for the battery. 1/26 - We have found a female wire for the battery so now Mr. Burnham is going to try to develop his own charger.
- In Progress - Construction
- In Progress - Develop Code - We are probably going to use a arduino and a raspberry pi. We also have to learn how to code robots with the raspberry pi. We are thinking about having the raspberry pi issue commands the arduino however it might just use only the arduino.
- Pending - Make a Instructables/ YouTube Page - a YouTube page has been made but we have yet to make an Instructables page
- In Progress - Research QTR-8RC Sensor Array
- In Progress - 3D Print Caster for a back wheel
- In Progress - Figure out a better setup for our wiring and where to place modules.
Mechanical Configuration:
This is the first 3D printed prototype caster for the back wheel but will not be used because of size problems.
2/27 - This is the newer design that was proposed so that we can actually fit the wheel into it rather than the previous one where the wheel didn't fit at all
3/2 - The printed design for the caster
New base for the components

Instructables -
It's not very interesting since it's just going in circles, but at least it works.
